The other weekend, the kids and I took a quick beekeeping course at a local farm. Despite the cooler temps and bouts of rain, we had a great time learning about honey bees.
Bear mostly played on the farm, chasing ducks and finding new ducklings. Beaver was attentive and very interested in the bees.
Up close and personal with bees is quite informative. Awesome little creatures that do so much for us when they pollinate flowers, fruit trees and crops. And we get that nice honey they make, and some pollen if lucky.
ReplyDeleteDid the boys get taught about the bee dances and how thats how they tell other bees where they went and how good the flowers they visited were. I thought that part was interesting and remember spending many younger days watching them come and go from the hive. Nice that it was on the other side of a window so you could just sit and watch.
